How to prepare for your Infrared Sauna experience – 412-257-3200 to book!

Before your Session:  Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Most people do not drink enough water to begin with and now that you are using an infrared sauna and sweating, it is even more important to stay properly hydrated. Always drink plenty of water before, during and after your sauna session. Remove all make up to allow your skin to receive the experience full benefits of the Infrared heat.  Arrive 5-10 minutes before your scheduled appointment to ensure you to relax for the full time of your appointment in the sauna.  Review the benefits and any contraindications and sign the studio sauna waiver. If you are under the medical advice of a physician, please confirm that using the sauna is appropriate for you.

What to Wear: Lightweight shorts and tee shirt are ok. Swimsuits are better. More skin exposure is certainly preferable. We recommend bringing clothing that is loose fitting and comfortable to put back on after your session. It is recommended to remove all jewelry as well.

What to Bring:  Only white towels are used on the cedar surfaces, but if you want additional softness, we recommend bringing a towel to sit on. We supply a small white hand towel for under for feet and to place on the bench.  If you want to listen to music, please bring personal headsets.  A WATER BOTTLE!

During your Session: You may not sweat much during your first 2-3 sauna sessions. This is normal for many people, as they haven’t had a recent history of sweating, and it takes a few sessions to “retrain” the body to do what comes naturally.

Take care not to overheat during your first few sessions. As the body continues to adjust, sweating can increase dramatically and body temperature regulation becomes more effective. If sauna cabin becomes too hot or stuffy, you may open the door for a minute to let some fresh air inside. Drink at least 10 ounces of water. Stretching your arms, legs and back area during your session creates more body flexibility.

After your Session: When you finish your sauna session, it is important to relax and cool down while your body continues to perspire. Sit or recline with a towel or wrap around you for about 5 minutes.  Enjoy a cold eucalyptus towel located in the refrigerator, in a bin labeled Sauna Use. Place the studio-supplied towels you used in the hamper provided. Shower 20-30 minutes after your session.  Book your next sauna experience!!  Continue to stay hydrated!!
